ABOUT THE SPARKS PROGRAM

Awana Cubbies is a three-year weekly club program for school-age children in Kindergarten through 2nd grade.  Our purpose is to help teach your child about the people and events of the Bible.  This builds a foundation of wisdom for knowing Jesus.

The Sparks program is firmly grounded in Scripture. The three handbooks feature:

  • Basic truths about God, Jesus Christ, salvation and the Bible
  • A clear and consistent presentation of the gospel message
  • An increased emphasis on Scripture memory over our preschool materials. In three years, a child will learn and review over 65 verses, many of which cover salvation and key Christian doctrine, establishing a foundation of biblical wisdom.

INTRODUCTION/Flight 3:16

Similar to our Cubbie Bear Hug Brochure, Flight 3:16 is the first and only (introduction) booklet received in Sparks. Upon completion of this Entrance Test the clubber receives a Sparks Membership Card, their Sparks Uniform Vest, and receives their first of 3 Handbooks available in Sparks.

HANDBOOKS and REVIEW

Sparks has 3 Handbooks (unlike Cubbies with only 2) used in their club: Hang Glider, Wing Runner, and Sky Stormer. The following sequence of completion for each grade is as follows:

KINDERGARTEN (1st Year of Sparks) – Flight 3:16, HANGGLIDER HANDBOOK
FIRST GRADE (Second Year of Sparks) – WINGRUNNER HANDBOOK
SECOND GRADE (Third Year of Sparks) – SKYSTORMER HANDBOOK

Following the handbook for each grade is a Frequent Flyer book that contains a handbook review and extra credit sections.

HangGlider, WingRunner and SkyStormer will take Sparkies on a sequential journey through Scripture – Genesis through Revelation – with regular layovers to meet important Bible characters along the way. Each book includes verse memory sections, Bible biographies, and activities. The handbooks are enhanced with an audio handbook CD.

Regardless of the age of the child, each clubber will start in the HangGlider Handbook. Each Handbook consists of:

 ADVANCEMENT

First & Second Graders will advance into Wing Runner after completion of the Hang Glider handbook. Second Graders will advance into Sky Stormer after completion of the Wing Runner Handbook. If a clubber completes the Handbook before the end of the club year, there is a Frequent Flyer book available for each Handbook level. Completion of Frequent Flyerbooks will earn the clubber a Pin Award to be displayed on his/her Review Patch.
