Mark Woodard was raised on a farm in southern Michigan. After graduating from college with a teaching degree, in 1991 he went on a six week mission trip to Papua New Guinea. In 1992 he went back for 10 months. It was at this time that he met his wife, Holly.

Holly was raised on the mission field and had been involved in mission work in Papau New Guinea since she was five years old. In 1995 Mark and Holly were married.

In 1997 they went back to Papua New Guinea as teachers of missionary children. After attending a two year intensive missions and language training school at the New Tribes Bible Institute in Waukesha, Wisconsin they moved back to Papua New Guinea as full time church planters.

Mark and Holly have four children, Allie, Brandt, Bryce and Brock.
